A new diet

It is only 3 months till Sarah’s wedding, at which I am a bridesmaid. I want to look good in general, but I also want to look good for this special day!! There’s nothing worse then ugly looking bridesmaids to ruin your wedding photos!

I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for AGES now, and in the count down to my own wedding I lost quite a bit of weight, and have slowly put it back on (mind you, the I only lost like 4 kilos, and that’s all I’ve put back on 9 months after the event). At WW (weight watchers) there are two plans, the points plan, where you count how many points you eat each day, and the core plan, where you can eat as much as you want- as long as you don’t over fill yourself, but only from a list of certain foods.

I’ve been on the points plan this whole time, but finally spoke to my leader, Cathleen, about what I can do to actually LOOSE some weight,  not just stick on this one weight. So she suggested changing plans- because I’m unsure of what I’m able to eat, I’m more likely to only eat the right things, and not just assume that I can eat something.

So I’m starting on the core plan today. So far it hasn’t gone all that well because today is Wednesday and I get a free lunch at work. Usually it’s just salad rolls, so I can just have a salad without the roll, but today it was fajitas. :-( Luckily you get 21 points to use in the week ON TOP of your core foods. So I guess I will just put it into that!!

I’m also starting the etools thing, which is tracking online, and you can also put your recipies into it, and it will tell you how much a serve of it is!! Which I think is pretty cool.

Life Goes On…

Yesterday two of my friends, Katie and Carmen, graduated Uni. There were five of us to begin with. Two have graduated yesterday, Rachel will graduate at the end of the year, I will graduate this time next year, and Jordy the year after.

We’re graduating at different times for different reasons, but the point is that we’re not all at Uni anymore. Before our lives, though different, were all consumed by a common factor- Uni. Now we’re all in different places and we talk about different things. Every school holidays Katie comes back to the coast (her and Alex moved to Emerald to teach), and we all get together for a ‘uni night’. It’s always fun to talk and catch up and hang out with these people that for the last 3 years I have spent so much time with!!

The thing I noticed about Monday night (our most recent Uni night), was the different conversations that went round the table, and how the amount of conversations that included everyone was decreasing. Rachel and I could talk about puppies, Katie and Carmen about graduation… there were conversations about being married, getting engaged, engagement rings, churches, friends, girlfriends, children, houses… the list goes on.

I guess the thing I love is that even though we’re all at different places in life right now, we are still able to get together and talk for hours and hours. I hope that this never dies, as long, good friends are hard to find.

Canon Digital SLR 400D

Most of you will know that I have been wanting a Canon 400D SLR camera for a while now.

Mum put it on lay-by and started me off with $200, which was for my birthday. Luke gave me $200 to put on it as a birthday present, and I also asked people to give me money to go towards it instead of birthday present this year, and so I put all that money on the camera today. I also have been saving all my coinage in a piggy bank, and went to the bank to put that on my card so I could pay MORE off my camera.

Thanks to some money we got for organising and running a kids programme the other weekend, we were able to AFFORD TO GET IT TODAY!!!!

I am SO excited, and have been taking pictures all afternoon. :-D

Also, tonight I ate vegemite on some naan bread- SO good!!

Relaxing Saturday

It’s been a fair while since Luke and I have spent the day together just relaxing and hanging out, but today is the day!! Oh course, pepper is here too, but she is mostly just sleeping, or running around the backyard…

My potatoes are sprouting up REALLY well, and so Pepper and I did some gardening this morning- putting more soil on the potatoes so they continue to reproduce, and also watering all the herbs, and other vegies. We also dug up some new soil for the next vege garden, and found some old sleepers to make a herb garden with. Pepper was pretty excited about the shovel… she liked to try and bite it.

We’ve also done a bit of cleaning, and I made zucchini and basil soup for lunch. It was (suprisingly) VERY yummy. Luke loved it (!!!). I will post up the recipe some time soon (remind me). I’ve also done a bit of wii fit, which Luke is forcing me to do an hour of seeing as I ate a dominos pizza last night (not the whole thing, just half).

I also spent a bit of time cleaning up my work area, and setting up the G4. I am planning on sifting through that and putting all the content I want to keep on the external hard drive. Then Luke said something about setting it up as a server… or something like that. I was distracted at the time. I also want to set up a windows/ ubuntu machine, so that I can test the things I make in different operating systems. It’s always good to have one of each. :-) not to use as the main computer though- only my baby mac mini for that.

You can look forward to seeing more Pepper videos in the future, as she’s getting a few comments on viddler, which is making me happy (comments always do!). Of late I am also enjoying watching pixar short films on youtube- something I don’t usually do, but it keeps away any signs of boredom (unless you count that as an actual sign of boredom).

We were going to hang out with Rachel & Aaron tonight, but they’re busy. So I think we’ll just watch a movie and chill. Kebab skewers for dinner, yum!!

Planning A Wedding

I have a few friends who are planning weddings at the moment (or at least thinking about it *coughs* carmen), and I thought of a really great idea to get ideas and inspiration.

All I did was do a quick search on del.icio.us for ‘wedding’, and I came up with hundreds of sites that other people have found useful!

As I import all my old email messages into my new email account, I am getting lots of links that I sent to luke to look at stuff before our wedding, and also lots of things mum and I sent to each other. I am currently opening them, and bookmarking them in del.icio.us is I found them useful!

Hopefull this link will work for you- it should be a search in del.icio.us for all the things tagged with weddings. If you’re not a member of del.icio.us then I would recommend that you get online and do it- it makes bookmarking so much easier!! If you do sign up, feel free to add me to your network (i’m sunshinetalia), and then I can send you anything I find directly!
