Friday 26th October

Today I changed my name at the bank from Talia Sue Rodgers to Talia Sue Carbis. Changing my name was one of the things that I didn’t realise would be as traumatic as it is. I am really attached to my surname, and strange as it sounds, and as much as I love Luke and was looking forward to being “Mrs Carbis”, it still takes a lot of getting use to. It is like the final part of leaving your family (as if moving out of home and going overseas for two weeks wasn’t traumatic enough :-P).

Changing my name at the bank was easy enough. My name isn’t even officially changed yet (I will send off the paperwork on Monday), but they didn’t mind- I just needed our marriage certificate. We got two joint bank accounts as well, and Luke canceled his other accounts. I still have my other accounts because I get paid into them and stuff.

Today Luke and I had a few funny moments where we discovered that the other person likes doing things differently to you. For example, I bought some glow in the dark stars in Crazy Clarks, and I told Luke and he was like, “You’re not going to put them in your bedroom are you?” and I was a little taken aback because I have ALWAYS had glow in the dark stars on my roof nearly my whole life. Luke compromised and claimed that this would be a new experience for him, and he could handle stars on the roof, even though he prefers to sleep in pitch darkness.

Luke: “Okay, it’ll be a new experience. But can you please just put them equally spaced over the roof?”
Talia: “I wasn’t going to put them over the WHOLE roof, just like, above our bed”
Luke: *blank, worried look* “Well… can you make them the same spaces apart?”
Talia: “That’s half your problem!! If you WANT them to be the same space apart and then you try and do that and then when they’re not perfect you notice and then it annoys you! If you just let them be random then it wouldn’t matter!
Luke: “Well, just try and not do any clumps of them.”
Talia: “I can’t promise that.”
Luke: *giving up* “Fine.”
Talia: *evil smile* “I’m going to make sure that some are clumped now”*laughs*
Luke: *sad face then smiles at joke*
*pauses*
Talia: “The next thing you know you’ll want me to put them up in straight lines.”
Luke:”!!!! Yes!! That’s EXACTLY what I want! In a grid!”
Talia: *Rolls eyes*
Luke: *Laughs* I can just imagine that in a movie- seeing a guy lying on his bed and then looking up at the ceiling and seeing a grid of stars in one area, and then a grid of planets, and then a grid of comets etc…”

What to do with a large amount of money that we received as a wedding gift is another thing (that one’s still not resolved). And whether or not we were going to put photos on the mirror (like I have always done) was another. I compromised that one and said that I would just put them on the wall. They could even be in a straight line if Luke wanted! He said yes, not sure if that’s about the lines… hope not.

hahaha! This is Hilarious! Actually a little bit scary…. who ever thought stars could be so controversial!
I am liking the whole “adjusting to marriage” theme. Irrelivent yet entertaining - perfect.
