Washing Up
Lets face it, washing up is a bit of a bitch. It’s messy, dirty, wet and just plain hard work. I personally hate it with a passion.
The unfortunate reality (when living in a house without a dishwasher) is that I HAVE to do the washing up. If I don’t, I then hate our house and feel crappy.
My little secret for getting it down is simply organisation.
Before I do the washing up (usually while I’m cooking, or an hour before wash up), I put all the cutlery together, all the bows separate, all the plates separate, all the flippers etc. together and just generally sort EVERYTHING into similar things.
That way I can easily track how far I’ve gone, and I can get into a rhythm with the washing.

i do exactly the same thing for dishes - and I hate it as well
Makes it worse, though, if dishes are all gross and crusted together, so even if it takes a bit of time doing the organizing, it’s worth it! Just wanted to let you know that your blog is the ONLY non-education blog that I read……….it’s refreshing to read something else once in a while

Great advice!!! I’m not a fan of washing up either but with 4 people + can extra sometimes there just isn’t enough room in the dishwasher. When i cook… which is everyday at the moment I wash up by hand. It feels good when its done!

If only I could have such a positive attitude toward washing up. For me, I find that I keep putting it off, and putting it off till everything has gone gross or moldy.
I need motivation, not organisation, people!
