Today I drew the sound of a glove

Today I drew the sound of a glove. Strange, no?

It’s on my (many) Uni assignements. Yep, I’m right into my first week of Uni (well, finished first week actually), and I’m REALLY enjoying it! I’ve ressurected an old blog from the last time I was at Uni, and in there I’ll be putting all my lecture notes (a lot of the words and notes are straight from the lecture- not necessarily my own), and tasks I have to do which look kinda like this:

Hole Punch

Random, right? This is the sound of a hole punch… I also drew the sound of a glove, an elephant purse, and a lindt chocolate wrapper.

Anyway, for more of these crazy (and not so crazy things you can check me out over at Teaching Talia.

Also, I am SO excited because last night I made THIS:

People who follow me on twitter are probably SO sick of hearing about this button. Lol. I’ve been tweeting about it heaps!

Basically I had to draw the little Uluru and trees etc. and then embroider it and then put it into the button press and make it into a button. It’s about 1.5cm wide.

One point FIVE centimeters. Do you know how tiny that is to embroider?!?!

Thanks for visiting my site again! keep checking back for more updates!

Every Day

What kind of things do you do every day?
Every day I:
Sleep
Wake Up
Kiss Luke
Eat
Watch TV/Movie
Email
Check my social networks

If you think about it, THESE are the things that make up who I am. Even though they aren’t my passions or my ‘loves’ necessarily (kissing Luke is the exception here!).

All this reflection, and a little post over at Carina’s Craftblog left me thinking I need to make the same resolution that Carina did. I NEED to do something creative

EVERY

SINGLE

DAY

So in order to do this I’m assembling a few embroidery designs that I want to make, as well as always having my pen and sketch book handy. I’ll be posting photos of what I do over at my Talia Carbis Tumblr Blog, as well as some updates here. :-)

Here you can see my first update from yesterday:

Things sitting next to the media PC: sunglasses, mouse, shofar. Artline fine 0.4, in visual journal (quill). 14/2/10.

Tree Embroidery

So you might remember that I’ve been working on a tree embroidery that matches my painting (painting is NEARLY finished…!). Well, I’m happy to announce that it’s finished! My nana thinks I could add some more swirls on the tree trunk, but I like it the way it is… :-)

To celebrate, I’ve drawn up the pattern, and am giving it away for FREE! I will also be putting together embroidery packs which will include everything (including thread, but excluding a needle and scissors) that you will need to make this yourself!

If you’re quite crafty yourself, then no need to buy the pack, just download the pattern here and get creating!

Here’s what I’m thinking I’ll put in the pack:

  • Calico cut to appropriate size
  • Pellon cut to appropriate size
  • Pattern
  • DMC Embroidery Threads:
    • 2 varieties of green
    • 2 varieties of brown
    • 3 yellow/orange/red

I think it will cost me about $12 in actually buying supplies, but I want to know, how much would you pay for a kit like that (shipping extra-depending where you are)? If you think this is too much I could just supply 1/2 the amount of thread (same colours, just less of each colour), which would still be far more then you needed. This would reduce the cost by $3/$4… Maybe I could make that an option? I could include like 1m of thread?
