Fire!
Fire twirling is one of the most beautiful, inspiring forms of artwork there is.
Luke Carbis, Talia Carbis, and Amon Rodgers all fire twirl, and love it. Based on the Sunshine Coast, they fire twirl mostly at Mooloolaba beach, busking, or just for fun. Earlier in 2007 they were busking and donating the proceeds (minus cost of kero and a celebratory slurpie) to Vana, an orphanage in Africa run by locals Donna and Errol Spence.
The threesome brought on other firetwirlers to twirl at the 4Her conference, run by Suncoast Christian Church, in early 2007.
Fire twirling is a safe, fun activity. Your body, the grass, or anything else probably WON’T catch on fire. It is recommended however that you wear appropriate clothing (not loose, and not highly flammable materials), and do take safety precautions like having water close by. Did you know that a fire stick will not set the grass on fire, even if you leave it on the ground!
In the 3 years that Luke has been fire twirling he has never burnt himself, or the grass/ trees/ bushes around him!
Luke, Talia, and Amon use Kerosene for fuel because of the bright yellow/ orange colour, reasonable length of burn, and safety aspects.
If you are interested in having firetwirling at your event, either on the Sunshine Coast, or in Brisbane, then why not contact Talia at talia.carbis (@) gmail.com.

So if Luke has been doing it for 3yrs and hasn’t been burned yet, how come in a year I’ve managed to:
set my skirt on fire and burn a huge hole in it, burn my hair twice, singe my eyebrows four times, burn my chin and nose once, cut my arm (albeit, it was in a stick duel with Michael) and almost knock myself out with the fire-twirling stick twice?
I must be doing something wrong. Lol.

I have no idea why you’ve burned yourself so many times! That’s really quite crazy!!
